Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The Intensive Care Unit at Coosa Valley Medical Center is a 10 bed highly functional department specializing in the holistic care of critically ill adult in a team environment. Redesigned in 2007, our highly trained and skilled nurses provide care for the complex surgical patient, unstable cardiac patient, and medical patients requiring intense nursing care. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, and is supported by a unit secretary/monitor technician. Local internal medicine physicians, as well as a recently added board certified critical care pulmonologist, guide the care of our patients 24 hours a day.

Nursing staff in the ICU are specially trained in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, invasive monitoring, and airway management. Our goal in the ICU is to deliver high quality, excellent nursing care in a friendly, hometown environment.

The Intensive Care Unit strives to have great outcomes for all patients served. These great outcomes are supported by the most recent research, and guided by evidence-based practices. We strive to meet all statewide initiatives for infection prevention and specific disease process management.
