Director, Pastoral Care/Chaplain (Pastoral Care)

Job Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY:  

The Director of Pastoral Care develops programs and provides services designed to meet the religious and spiritual needs of patients, their families, and CVCM Team Members. Ensures that emotional support, spiritual counsel and comfort are provided to patients and families facing difficult medical choices.  Plans and coordinates with other clergy to ensure interfaith approach to Pastoral Care at CVMC.

EDUCATION – Master of Divinity from an accredited seminary required.

EXPERIENCE – A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the related area as an individual contributor and experience in healthcare are preferred.

Hospice Registered Nurse (Hospice Services)

Job Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY:  

Responsible for the planning, coordinating, providing and documenting for terminally ill patients fro the day of admission through the day of discharge.  Develops and implements a hospice plan that meets each patient’s specific needs and is in compliance with JC, federal and state regulations, reimbursement guidelines as well as CVMC’s policies and procedures. 

EDUCATION – Associate degree from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed by State of Alabama.  Must possess a current Alabama driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance.

EXPERIENCE – One year previous nursing experience required.  Hospice experience preferred.

Registered Nurse (Emergency Department)

RN performs functions of assessing; planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients on unit during shift.  RN is responsible for managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment.  RN is responsible for promotion of collaboration with all members of health care team.  RN Care Team Leader develops work plan and provides clear directions and expectations for care partner.

EDUCATION – Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed in the State of Alabama.

Radiology Technologist (Diagnostic Imaging)

Job Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY:  

Operates fixed and portable fluoroscopic or conventional radiographs equipment to obtain routine radiographs.  Assist physicians in examinations by mixing and preparing contrast media, assisting in sterile procedures, etc.  In addition to general radiology, at times may also perform CT.

EDUCATION – Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of radiologic equipment as normally acquired through completion of two years post high school training in an approved school of radiologic technology.  American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) must be acquired within 90 days of hire date.

EXPERIENCE – Up to twenty-four months experience necessary in order to gain familiarity with hospital environment and department routine, polices and procedures in diagnostic radiology and any specialty areas.  Formal education in specialty areas would be accepted in lieu of experience.

Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Department)

Pharmacist (Pharmacy Services)            

Temporary (PRN) Position

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Interprets physicians’ drug orders and supplies nursing units with proper medications for administration to patients and personnel. Answers questions related to medication regimens to provide optimum patient care. Provide patient medication education when requested.

EDUCATION – Graduates from accredited school of Pharmacy and currently licensed and registered by State Board of Pharmacy.

EXPERIENCE – Six to twelve months’ experience as a pharmacist preferred.

Dietary Assistant (Food and Nutrition Department)

Full-time Position; 5a-2p                                                                  

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Performs various tasks related to assembly and distribution of patient meals and nourishment; cleaning and sanitation; handling and storing foods and supplies; collects and disposes of trash and garbage.

EDUCATION – High school education or equivalent.  Requires understand/transmit detailed instructions and performing simple arithmetic calculations.

EXPERIENCE – Six to twelve months experience as a hospital cook or similar position.

Foundation Director (Marketing)

Full-time Position; 8a-5p

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Foundation Director is responsible for leading and strengthening a comprehensive fundraising program in support of the Foundation’s mission and goals.  Specific emphasis is focused on annual giving, major giving, planned giving, grants and fundraising events.  The Director will strive to build a greater understanding and support for both the Hospital’s and Foundation’s mission, vision and goals in the region.

EDUCATION – Bachelor degree required, advanced degree preferred. A degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, or Communications or related field preferred. Certification or CFRE preferred.

EDUCATION – Minimum five years of increasingly responsible fundraising experience preferably in a healthcare setting with evidence of continued growth through education and participation in professional fundraising organizations. Demonstrate a record of continuing involvement in professional activities. Work independently and as an effective team member. Set and meet deadlines and goals. Excellent analytical, organizational, management and communication skills, both oral and written. Computer skills required to manage fundraising and donor databases. Demonstrated ability to build effective and collaborative relationships with a wide set of constituencies. Demonstrated ability to multi-task. Demonstrated knowledge and /or experience in all phases of Foundation work.  Demonstrated track record of solid accomplishment in fundraising.

Food Services Coordinator

Full-time Position; Varies

GENERAL SUMMARY:   

Provide accurate and prompt service of meals and nourishments to patients through supervised activities of employees in patient food services areas.

EDUCATION – High school education or equivalent with ability to read and write.  Ability to lead, train and schedule workers.  Knowledge of diets preferred.  Serv-Safe certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE – Previous clerical experience with relevant math/bookkeeping skills preferred.   Minimum one year Food Service experience required.  Leadership experience or equivalent training/education required.  Must have good communication skills. 

Cook (Food Services)

Full-time Position; Varies shifts

GENERAL SUMMARY:   

Prepares and cooks food for patients, cafeteria and special function meals according to established procedures and guidelines to produce highest quality meal possible with minimum waste.

EDUCATION – High school education or equivalent.  Requires understand/transmit detailed instructions and performing simple arithmetic calculations.

EXPERIENCE – Six to twelve months experience as a hospital cook or similar position.

Environmental Assistant (Environmental Services)

Full-time Position; 3p-11p

GENERAL SUMMARY:   

Perform repetitive tasks in maintaining an assigned area in an orderly and sanitary condition.

EDUCATION – High school education or equivalent required.  Work requires ability to read, write, understand and/or transmit detailed instructions or information and ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations.  Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in order to read labels when preparing cleaning solutions and be able to efficiently follow supervisor’s work orders.

EXPERIENCE:  One to three months’ on-the-job experience necessary in order to become familiar with heavy housekeeping duties and to acquire working knowledge of cleaning procedures and maintenance of power equipment.

Respiratory Therapist (Respiratory)

Full-time Position; 7a-7p

GENERAL SUMMARY:   

Administer more complex respiratory therapy procedures to general and critical care patients under minimal supervision and according to established department policies, procedures and standards.  Makes assessment of patients’ respiratory status, administers prescribed therapies and monitors patient response to such therapies.  May oversee and direct work of lower classified personnel and assists in training and orientation of new Respiratory Therapist or students as requested.

EDUCATION – Requires knowledge of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pulmonary physics, pulmonary physiology, advanced respiratory care, mathematics, blood gas chemistry and pharmacology at a level generally acquired through completion of a two year AMA approved program in Respiratory Therapy.  Must have passed certified (CRT) and be licensed by Alabama State Board of Respiratory Therapy.

EXPERIENCE – Approximately six to twelve months’ of progressively more responsible related work experience necessary to gain a complete understanding of respiratory therapy principles and procedures in order to provide assistance in resolution of difficult work related problems, orient and train new employees and provide technical advice on performing therapies.  Analytical ability necessary to review and evaluate various laboratory results, conduct respiratory assessments, and properly operate technical respiratory equipment.  Interpersonal skills necessary to explain therapy and goals to patients and family members and to communicate effectively with nursing personnel, physicians and other hospital personnel.

Human Resources Assistant (Human Resources)             

Full-time Position; 8a-5p

Job Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY:  

Assists Human Resources Department to ensure smooth operation of department.  Provides courteous assistance to CVMC team members, leadership and guests.  Assist with all functions of the Human Resources Department. 

EDUCATION:  High school education required, Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum one experience in Payroll and/or Human Resources with general knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Power Point. 

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) (Surgical Services)

Full-time or (Contract)Position; 8a-5p

Job Description:

GENERAL SUMMARY:  

Administer anesthesia and anesthesia-related care in collaboration and consultation with attending anesthesiologists in the main OR. Participates in pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation. Formulates a patient-specific plan for anesthesia care in collaboration with attending anesthesiologist. Implements monitors and adjusts patient’s physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and specific patient’s needs. Transfers the responsibility for care of the patient to other qualified providers postoperatively to ensure continuity of care and patient safety. Supports operating room procedures. Participates in additional areas of responsibility that are within the expertise of the individual . Assumes responsibility for professional development of self and contributes to and assists with the professional development of others. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATIONMaster’s degree in Nursing or Anesthesia from an accredited school of nursing or eligible to practice as a CRNA.

EXPERIENCE Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.. American Heart Association (AHA) Health care Provider BLS certification required.
